About Kristin Conlon, Psy.D.

Hi, there! I’m Dr. Conlon (she/her), licensed clinical psychologist in Chicago. Many of the adults I work with spend a lot of time reflecting and trying to understand their experiences. Still, they may find themselves running into familiar patterns like second-guessing themselves, feeling unsure what they need, holding back in relationships, or feeling that life is “fine” but not fully satisfying.

My Approach:

My approach is primarily psychodynamic, which means we pay attention to what keeps recurring in your relationships, decisions, and inner dialogue. Together, we explore how these patterns developed and how they may still be impacting you now.

We also make space for emotions that may have been difficult to access or have been pushed aside. As these experiences become clearer, different ways of responding often start to feel possible.

When helpful, I also incorporate practical tools, including strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to work with anxiety, self-doubt, or unhelpful thinking patterns.

My Style:

I take a curious, collaborative, and active approach to therapy. Humor shows up naturally when it fits. Therapy with me tends to be a place where clients feel seen, can slow down, tune into parts of themselves they often overlook.

I’m also influenced by Eastern philosophy, which shows up in an emphasis on being mindful/present in the moment, relating with more self-compassion, and learning to navigate change more flexibly.

A Bit More About Me:

We might work well together if….

You’re curious about understanding your patterns, relationships, and emotions.

You want therapy that balances insight with practical strategies.

You’re open to exploring how early experiences shape your present choices.

You’re ready to reflect on yourself and your life with honesty and compassion.

I might not be a good fit if….

You want someone who tells you what to do or gives you advice.

You’re seeking a therapist who focuses only on
skills-based therapy and a short term model.

You’re looking for a therapist who sees children, couples, or families (I only see adults individually)

You don’t need to have all the answers or have things figured out. That’s what we can do in therapy.
If this sounds like the kind of space you’ve been looking for, I would be honored to hear from you
